Misted Double Glazing Repair in Rusthall (TN3-4)

A misted-up window isn't a broken window — the frame is fine, just the sealed glass unit has failed. In Rusthall we swap the unit, not the frame: 30–60 min on site, written guarantee, no plaster damage.

Sealed units from £100*

Fast, local and trusted Glazing Spark van — mobile window repair service in Tunbridge Wells
Based in TN1. Typically 12 min to Pembury, 18 min to Tonbridge — most jobs surveyed same week.

Rusthall has the housing stock that keeps us busiest: Victorian and Edwardian terraces along Lower Green Road, Coach Road and St Paul's Road; a layer of 1930s semis around Bretland Road; and the post-war additions inland. The frames are a mix — original timber, 1980s UPVC, and a fair amount of aluminium fitted in the late 70s. The fault profile that comes with that mix? Mostly misted sealed units (the 1980s UPVC vintage is exactly the age the seals are failing now) and dropped composite front doors.

If you're on the Common-facing side of Rusthall, we can usually be on your doorstep within ten minutes. We are not a national franchise who sub-contract locally — Alvaro is the one who answers, surveys and fits, so the price we quote on the doorstep is the price you pay.

Fix what's failed. Don't replace what's working.

Misted double-glazed window with condensation trapped between the panes in Rusthall from £100*

What "misted" actually means

When a double-glazed pane fogs up, the frame is almost always fine. The sealed unit inside the frame — two panes bonded around a perimeter spacer with butyl and secondary sealant — has lost its seal. Modern UPVC, aluminium and composite frames last 25–40 years; the sealed unit inside lasts 15–20. Once that perimeter seal perishes, moisture works into the cavity and condenses on the inside of the glass — that's the haze. The fix is replacing only the sealed unit, leaving the frame alone.

Repair vs. replace — what it actually costs in Tunbridge Wells

Most quotes locals are given assume full replacement. They shouldn't. Here's the same window, fixed two different ways.

  Repair with Glazing Spark

£120–£200per pane, all-in

  • Frame stays — UPVC, aluminium or composite, kept in place.
  • 30–60 minutes on site per window once parts are in.
  • No scaffolding, no plaster damage, no redecorating.
  • Written guarantee on parts & labour, plus 5-year sealed-unit warranty.
  • Free survey, no call-out fee, fixed written quote same day.

  Full window replacement

£400–£800per window, supply & fit

  • Frame, sill & cill ripped out even when they're sound.
  • 1–2 days on site, longer for whole-house jobs.
  • Plaster damage around reveals — repaint or skim afterwards.
  • Higher disposal cost — old UPVC is hard to recycle.
  • Doorstep pressure sales with discount-now tactics common.

*Starting prices. Final quotes depend on glass spec, size, access and parts.

We cover Rusthall from a TN1 base — local, nearby, on the road every day.

In Rusthall most of the misted-glass calls we take come from sealed-unit failures in the 1985–2010 vintage of double-glazing — the era when the perimeter seals are exactly the right age to perish. The frame is almost always fine; only the sealed unit needs swapping.

Rusthall has the housing stock that keeps us busiest: Victorian and Edwardian terraces along Lower Green Road, Coach Road and St Paul's Road; a layer of 1930s semis around Bretland Road; and the post-war additions inland. Mostly misted sealed units (the 1980s UPVC vintage is exactly the age the seals are failing now) and dropped composite front doors.

That's why we keep made-to-measure spacer-bar colours, glass thicknesses and pattern matches on the van — a Rusthall survey rarely throws up a unit we can't replicate.

Frequently asked questions

Real questions from real customers in Rusthall and the surrounding villages.

  • How much does misted glass repair cost in Rusthall?

From £100 per pane. Most jobs land between £120 and £200 depending on size, glass spec and access. A full replacement window in Rusthall is typically £400–£800 per window, so swapping the sealed unit saves you £200–£600 per pane. Every quote is written and fixed in advance.

  • How quickly can you reach Rusthall?

From our TN1 base we're typically a 7-minute drive to anywhere in Rusthall — central streets like Lower Green Road are door-to-door inside ten minutes. Same-day surveys most weeks; the actual repair lands within 1–2 weeks of the survey for made-to-measure sealed glass, sooner for stock parts. Call 01892 300511 with your postcode for an honest ETA.

  • Which areas of Rusthall do you cover?

All of TN3 / TN4 (TN3-4). The Rusthall streets we cover include Rusthall Village, Hungershall Park, Toad Rock, and Bretland Road — and most of the roads running off them. If your home is in any of those postcodes we've almost certainly worked on your street.

  • Do you handle period properties on Tunbridge Wells Common?

Yes — most homes within a conservation area need like-for-like glass. We measure and match original spacer-bar colour, glazing-bar pattern and Georgian/leaded effects so the replacement is indistinguishable from inside or out. We do not, however, touch single-glazed leaded lights or original stained glass — those are restorer's work.
